“Die to the past every moment. You don’t need it. Only refer to it when it is absolutely relevant to the present. Feel the power of this moment and the fullness of Being. Feel your presence.”
― Eckhart Tolle
For some time now I have been reluctant to enter photo contests. Why, well previous negative experience. But with that in the past, this is the NOW and making the conscious choice to live in the NOW I entered several local contests. What is the worst that can happen? Nothing, absolutely nothing that is what would happen if no contest was entered anyway right. Some of the photos entered are ones that have been posted on this blog, also prints are available for purchase at my gallery on CommittedPhotography
Here are some of the photos

Good luck on the contests Steve. I love your work and have the utmost confidence that you’ll win, or at least receive recognition for your outstanding photography. If nothing else, it gets your work in front of people…that certainly can hurt. I find that the competitions are more of a competition with myself sometimes. They push me to shoot more and try new techniques.
I just visited the site you are selling your prints on. I’m curious about the quality of the prints and customer service. Have you been with them for a while? If not, please let me know how it goes after a bit of time. Blessings, Robyn

Hi Robyn,
Thank you!
I found the site after hearing a pod cast that Jeremy Cowart did he is the photographer that put together the Help Portrait Project. Nope have not been there long. I was impressed by the site so I thought what the heck! The images can sit there to be seen or languish on my hard drive.

Best of luck with the contest(s). It’s hard to be rejected! I know! And there are so many good photographers out there. In the end, you have to please yourself, and like you implied, it is surely beneficial to get the images off the hard drive and into a contest, on a website, or here on your blog where we can enjoy them.

It’s a good idea to join contests. I used to have a narrow focus of only photographing whitetail deer until I entered my first nature contest in 2004. Since then, I’ve developed a diverse portfolio and made lots of photography friends along the way. I haven’t entered a contest since 2008 because I had to focus on my dissertation. Had I entered a contest while trying to work on that, I would have focused on the competition. So, I put priorities in order. But, that is almost 100% behind me and I’m not looking for a contest to enter myself. I think I’m going to try NaturesBest this coming year but if a local one comes up, I’ll enter that too. Good luck.
